1 Overview & Accountless Architecture
Akili ("we", "our", or "the App") is an offline-first microlearning and document reader application created by Tech2U. We believe your learning journey, private study notes, reading history, and imported documents belong strictly to you.
Zero Account Requirement: Akili does not require account registration, email addresses, phone numbers, or passwords. All personal cards, study progress, and document highlights are stored locally on your device in an encrypted on-device database.
2 Information We Do Not Collect
We do not collect, transmit, store, or sell any of the following:
- Your personal identity, real name, email, or physical address.
- The text, content, or titles of documents or books you import into the reader.
- Personal cards, study notes, tags, or recall quiz responses you create.
- Your precise GPS location or biometric data.
3 Advertising & Google UMP Consent
Akili is supported by non-intrusive advertisements served through Google AdMob. In compliance with EU GDPR, UK GDPR, Swiss FADP, and US State Privacy Laws (CCPA/CPRA), we utilize the certified Google User Messaging Platform (UMP) SDK to gather and respect your consent choices before any ads are served.

Depending on your region and consent preferences, Google AdMob may collect and process device identifiers (such as Android Advertising ID) and app interaction data for ad delivery, fraud prevention, and analytics.
On-Demand Consent Revocation: You can change or withdraw your consent preferences at any time directly inside the App by opening Settings > Privacy & Legal Compliance > Ad Consent & Privacy Preferences.
4 Device Permissions
Akili requests only the minimal permissions required for core functionality:
5 Data Storage, Retention & Deletion
All your learning streaks, personal cards, reading bookmarks, and custom topics are stored locally in Android Room SQLite storage. Because we do not operate remote user accounts or servers holding your personal data:
- Data Deletion: You can permanently delete all app data at any time by uninstalling the app or clearing App Storage in Android System Settings.
- Data Portability: You can export your full database to a JSON backup file at any time via Settings > Export JSON Database Backup.
6 Children's Privacy
Akili does not knowingly collect or solicit personal information from children under the age of 13. If you believe a child has provided personal information to third-party ad providers through our app without parental consent, please contact us immediately.
7 Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update our Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes will be posted on this page with an updated "Last Updated" date.
