1 Introduction & Mission

BrokerGuard ("the Application") is an independent consumer protection utility published by Tech2U Savannah. The Application enables retail investors, forex traders, and the general public across Kenya and East Africa to verify whether financial entities, forex brokerages, and fund managers hold valid licenses with the Capital Markets Authority (CMA) of Kenya and international statutory regulators.

Core Thesis: A ten-second, source-linked legitimacy check at the exact moment an investor is deciding whether to transfer funds protects capital from clone websites and unlicensed boiler-room scams.

2 Unofficial Regulator Mirror & Non-Advice Disclaimer

BrokerGuard is an independent consumer research directory. BrokerGuard is not a regulatory authority, is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or part of the Capital Markets Authority (CMA) of Kenya, the Central Bank of Kenya (CBK), or any international securities commission.

A "Licensed" status returned by BrokerGuard indicates solely that the entity name matched a public licensee register at the dataset synchronization timestamp indicated in the app. It does not constitute investment advice, credit rating, endorsement, or deposit insurance. Users must verify live standings directly on official regulatory portals before committing funds.

3 Information We Do Not Collect

BrokerGuard is architected with strict Privacy-by-Design principles. We deliberately operate without user accounts or server authentication:

4 Local Device Data & Search History Governance

For user convenience, BrokerGuard stores recent searches locally on your device via secure SharedPreferences storage:

5 Device Permissions & Technical Justifications

android.permission.INTERNET

Required to load non-intrusive advertisements via Google AdMob, fetch remote dataset updates when you tap 'Sync Registry Now', and open official regulator links in your browser.

android.permission.ACCESS_NETWORK_STATE

Used to verify active network connectivity prior to initiating background synchronization requests.

6 Monetization & Google UMP Consent Framework

BrokerGuard is free to use and monetized responsibly via Google AdMob banner and interstitial advertising:

7 Featured Regulated Broker Partner Links (HFM)

BrokerGuard features legitimate, CMA-regulated partner brokerages (such as HFM / HF Markets Kenya Limited, CMA License No. CMA/FX/007) to direct traders safely away from fraudulent operators. Tapping on external partner buttons opens the partner's verified official portal via your web browser. Partner relationships undergo verification to ensure active statutory licensing.

8 Children's Privacy (COPPA & GDPR-K Compliance)

BrokerGuard is a financial regulatory verification tool intended for adults and retail investors aged 18 and older. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 (or under 16 in the EEA/UK). If you believe a child has provided personal information, contact us immediately.

9 Global Regulatory Compliance & User Rights

Under the Kenya Data Protection Act 2019, EU GDPR, UK GDPR, and California CCPA/CPRA, users have the right to access, rectify, or erase data. Because BrokerGuard does not collect or maintain centralized personal data on remote servers, your primary mechanism of data management is on-device deletion via Clear Search History or app uninstallation.
