Welcome to GB CleanStatus ("CleanStatus", "we", "our", or "us"). We take your privacy very seriously. This Privacy Policy details our data practices, permissions usage, and compliance with international privacy regulations including the EU/UK General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA/CPRA), and Google Play Developer Program Policies.
1 Information Collection and Data Minimization
GB CleanStatus operates on a strict zero cloud tracking, privacy-by-default model:
- No Personal Identifiable Information (PII): We do not require accounts, logins, phone numbers, email addresses, contacts, or names.
- Zero Server Uploads: We operate no external servers or backend databases storing your personal photos, videos, or chats.
- Local Storage Only: All status previewing, saving, organization, and cache cleaning actions happen 100% locally on your device.
2 Local Storage and Storage Access Framework (SAF)
Android security standards require apps to access external storage via Google's Storage Access Framework (SAF). GB CleanStatus requires interactive user authorization before accessing status directories:
Strictly Scoped Access: The app only accesses the specific status directory you explicitly select (e.g. Android/media/com.whatsapp/WhatsApp/Media/.Statuses). We cannot and do not access your private photos, personal documents, contacts, or unrelated storage directories.
Temporary Cache Management: Thumbnail previews are generated locally into the app's internal cache folder for smooth performance. You can purge this cache anytime via the built-in Storage tab.
3 Advertising and Google UMP Consent (GDPR / CCPA)
To support ongoing maintenance while keeping core features free, GB CleanStatus displays advertisements served by Google AdMob.
We comply fully with Google's EU User Consent Policy and US State Privacy Laws using the certified Google User Messaging Platform (UMP) SDK:
- Consent Gate: In the European Economic Area (EEA), UK, and Switzerland, ads are initialized only after querying and respecting user consent choices.
- On-Demand Consent Revocation: Users can change or revoke their advertising consent at any time inside the app by navigating to Settings → Privacy & Consent → Consent Preferences.
- Ad Identifiers: Third-party ad networks may collect anonymized advertising IDs and device diagnostics in accordance with their respective privacy policies.
Google AdMob & Privacy
Google may use device identifiers and cookies to serve contextual or personalized ads.
4 Google Play In-App Purchases (Remove Ads)
GB CleanStatus offers an optional one-time In-App Purchase ($2.99) to completely remove all advertisements:
- Billing Rail: All transactions are processed directly and securely by the Google Play In-App Billing API.
- Payment Security: We never receive, collect, or store your credit card details, bank information, or payment credentials. All billing credentials remain exclusively with Google Play.
- Purchase Restoration: Purchases are tied to your Google Play account and can be restored across devices anytime.

GB CleanStatus is not designed for or targeted at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect or solicit any personal information from children under 13.
7 Third-Party Disclaimers & Fair Use
GB CleanStatus is an independent utility developed by Tech2U. It is not affiliated with, authorized, sponsored, or endorsed by WhatsApp LLC, Meta Platforms Inc., or any of their affiliates.
The name "WhatsApp" and associated trademarks belong to Meta Platforms, Inc. Users are solely responsible for respecting the copyright and privacy rights of original status creators before reposting saved media.
8 Policy Updates and Contact Information
We may update this Privacy Policy periodically to reflect new features or regulatory requirements. Changes will take effect immediately upon publication on this page.
