At Tech2U Savannah, we believe recovery from gambling harms demands absolute trust, zero surveillance, and complete emotional safety. Jipende is architected under the principle of Zero-Knowledge Local Storage.

2 Data Storage & Zero Personal Data Transmission

All recovery milestones and metrics entered by you into Jipende are stored strictly within local sandbox storage using an on-device SQLite database:

• Streak & Milestone Records: Clean run start dates, total supported recovery days, and reset history.
• Financial Parameters: Your entered average daily or weekly spend and preferred local currency (KES, USD, GBP, EUR, AUD).
• Recovery Journal Entries: Notes, mindful reflections, emotional triggers, and custom written reasons for quitting.
• Preferences: Swahili/English language choice, Dark Mode/Light Mode settings, and notification reminder schedules.

We do NOT operate remote web servers or cloud databases that ingest your journal notes or recovery status. We cannot access, view, or monetize your recovery data.

3 Advertising & Analytics Disclosure (Zero Trackers in V1)

To protect vulnerable individuals in addiction recovery from harmful or predatory marketing (such as miscategorized casino or betting ads), Jipende Version 1.0 runs completely free of advertising SDK calls and third-party tracking beacons.

• No Analytics SDKs: We do not include Google Firebase Analytics, Meta Pixel, AppsFlyer, or Adjust.
• No Ad Serving: No banner ads, interstitial popups, or rewarded video ads are shown or downloaded.
• Future Advertising Policy: If optional contextual monetization is ever introduced in future updates, it will strictly comply with Google Play Families and Health guidelines, incorporate the Google User Messaging Platform (UMP) consent SDK for GDPR/CCPA compliance, feature immediate on-demand consent revocation, and strictly blacklist all gambling, betting, and predatory financial categories.

4 Device Permissions & Hardware Access

Jipende requests only the minimum operating system permissions required for local utility features:

• android.permission.POST_NOTIFICATIONS: Used exclusively to deliver your scheduled morning intention and evening reflection check-in alerts locally on your device. Notifications are neutral and discreet.
• android.permission.RECEIVE_BOOT_COMPLETED & android.permission.SCHEDULE_EXACT_ALARM: Used solely by the Android alarm manager to restore your local morning and evening reminders after your phone restarts.
• android.permission.INTERNET: Included for optional opening of external browser links (such as developer support email or reading this policy). No personal data is ever transmitted over the network.

The app does NOT request access to your contacts, precise or coarse location, camera, microphone, SMS, photo library, or call history.

5 Helpline Directory & External Phone Calls

The "Helplines & Emergency Support" screen provides direct quick-dial shortcuts to verified national crisis resources, such as Kenya National Mental Health Helpline (1190) and Healthcare Support (719).

When you tap a helpline button, Jipende prepares your phone's native phone dialer with the crisis number using Android's standard tel: intent. Jipende never silently places calls, does not record phone audio, and cannot access your call records.

7 Children's Privacy (Age 18+ Restricted App)

Jipende is strictly designed for adults recovering from gambling harms. In compliance with Google Play Store Developer Policies, the United States Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA), and the European Union General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR-K):

• The app features a mandatory 18+ Age Gate during onboarding.
• We do not target, market to, or knowingly collect any information from children under the age of 18.

8 Data Retention, Nuclear Wipe & User Data Export

Because your recovery data exists exclusively on your physical handset, you have absolute sovereignty over your records:

• Data Export: You can export your full recovery history, streaks, and reflections at any time as a portable JSON file via Settings → "Export My Recovery Data".
• Nuclear Wipe: You can instantly and permanently erase every streak record, journal entry, and preference directly inside the app via Settings → "Erase All Recovery Data". This performs an irreversible database purge.
• Uninstallation: Uninstalling Jipende immediately wipes all database files from your device.

9 Regulatory Rights (GDPR, CCPA/CPRA, Kenya Data Protection Act)

Under global privacy regulations including the European Union General Data Protection Regulation (EU GDPR), United Kingdom Data Protection Act, California Consumer Privacy Act / CPRA, and Kenya Data Protection Act 2019:

• Right of Access & Portability: Satisfied natively on-device via the JSON Export feature.
• Right to Erasure ("Right to be Forgotten"): Satisfied natively on-device via the 1-Tap Nuclear Wipe button.
• Right to Non-Discrimination & Opt-Out: Jipende never sells, rents, trades, or shares personal information with data brokers or advertising exchanges.
